Intentando instalar PostgreSQL, y parece que he estropeado algo. Primero elimino postgres usando los comandos a continuación.

 [ec2-user@ip-10-183-130-45 /]$ rm -rf /var/lib/pgsql/data [ec2-user@ip-10-183-130-45 /]$ sudo rm -rf /var/pgsql

luego intente initdb, que por alguna razón falla,

 [ec2-user@ip-10-183-130-45 /]$ sudo service postgresql initdb Initializing database: [FAILED]

pero cuando compruebo, sin embargo, initdb crea una carpeta pgsql,

así que trato de iniciar el postgresql, que también falla

 [ec2-user@ip-10-183-130-45 var]$ sudo service postgresql start /var/pgsql is missing. Use "service postgresql initdb" to initialize the cluster first. [FAILED]

¿Puede alguien ayudarme, identificar qué estoy haciendo mal? Usando postgresql-9.2-1.19.
