I have a server running at LocalHost:3000 and I cant turn it off

I have a project I'm working on with my friend and the local server is running at LocalHost:3000 . The problem is I have a webpage running (I think it could be a live server to view what I've coded) I can't figure out how to turn it off. I know where the source files are and I went to the command prompt (I'm running on windows) and directed it into my project folder. I tried Ctrl-c and y and nothing happened. I also tried running the server with npm install and then npm start but nothing happened because I don't have a JSON file in my project folder. (I don't know how to code JSON)

It is the ongoing port listening issue. in this case, you can press ctrl+c to stop the process, and if it's not stopping you can close all the terminals and reopen, also if you are working with Node based environment, go through the following steps.

For Linux/Mac OS search (sudo) run this in the terminal: $ lsof -i tcp:3000 $ kill -9 PID

On Windows: $ netstat -ano | findstr :3000 tskill typeyourPIDhere

change tskill for taskkill in git bash

Try going to the terminal and doing Ctrl + C If you don't have access to the terminal, if you just close the IDE where it was hosted, it should stop.

Assuming you are working from a linux/unix environment, you can run ps -ax from your terminal to see a list of all the running processes. From there, find your server, get the process ID and run kill ${pid} to kill the process.
