I'm trying to import jQuery into my JS file (for a webpage). So I installed it with

npm i jquery

I imported it into my JS file

import * as $ from "../node_modules/jquery/src/jquery";

Now I get this error: jquery:1 Uncaught ReferenceError: define is not defined at jquery:1:1.

Can anyone help?
