A Redux pattern that fires side effects on change of specific state values

I'm relatively new to Redux, using it within a React application, and am trying to navigate the sea of extensions and functionalities that seem like they may solve this problem better than just me writing code for it.

Basically I have a pretty complex app which features some side effects that have nothing to do with React components and are code only (specifically, it's a lot of rendering going on with WebGL on a canvas). Some changes in the Redux store trigger necessarily side effects. Worse, some of these side effects must then trigger other side effects, in a sort of hierarchy where whenever something at a certain level updates, the update must "bubble up" and start refreshing everything at the upper levels too. This pattern gets quite confusing and I was hoping there could be some way to implement it easily. Basically, it's a lot like what happens with React components using the useSelector hook, where I'd like for each piece of code to run autonomously based only on whether the bits of state it needs changed - but for pure JS functions instead of JSX components. Is this something that can be done? What's a good library to extend Redux' functionality in this direction, if necessary?
