Saving the file-input of locally saved files to JSON and acessing them later

I would like the users of an Angular-Application to be able to select multiple locally saved files (from their hard drive for example) and view them in the app. They can save their progress and settings to a JSON file and import this JSON file the next time they open the app in order so they are back right where they left off. I do not want the videos to be uploaded, as this would require me to implement some kind of login system and/or to moderate the uploaded data.

Playing a locally saved video is possible (Play local (hard-drive) video file with HTML5 video tag?), when the file was selected via the input element. However, in my use case the file was once selected via the input element, but I also need to be able to access them after importing the JSON.

Is there something I can save to the JSON, that I can then assign to the input after importing and then play the video?
