Note: I'm quite new to React

My React App has been running without any flaws. After trying to install a remote component, I made the command "npm audit fix --force". Now I get the error "Could not find a required file. Name: index.js".

The problem is my index file is a .jsx file and not a .js file.

If I refactor my index file to a .js file, I get a syntax error like this:

Unexpected token: 
   9 | function App() {
  10 |   return (
> 11 |     <>
     |      ^
  12 |       <Layout />
  13 |     </>
  14 |   );

Seems like all of the sudden React only looks for .js files and not .jsx. How can this be? And how do I fix this?
