Estoy tratando de tomar el ícono de la pestaña actual usando la API de Chrome y enviarlo a través de una solicitud:

Sin embargo, la URL de favicon siempre está en blanco o sin definir. También intenté acceder al enlace directamente con document.getElementById("shortcut icon").href pero no estoy seguro de si eso es legal. ¿Algunas ideas?
