I was wondering about open source project to view and annotate PDFs. I have tried PDF.js, but this one does not provide annotating.

What I am looking for is to view pdf and create annotations (highlights) as an invisible layer, which can be saved in the custom database and rendered in the browser afterwards. Let me know your experience and suggestions.
