I am designing a chat application similar to Facebook messenger. I have implemented every other features. A user can reply to a chat. My major challenge is how to jump to that chat when a user click on the reply text.

I know that I can use js scrollIntoView. But this is applicable if the chat is rendered on the dom. However, this will not work if the chat is not part of the current chats listed in the chat box (especially for an old message) since I am not loading all chats at once.

Ideas, help and solutions will be highly appreciated.
