How can I get groovydoc index.html to render in jenkins?

• build calls groovydoc gradle task
• uses publishHTML to publish

publishHTML(target: [
        allowMissing         : false,
        alwaysLinkToLastBuild: false,
        keepAll              : true,
        reportDir            : 'build/docs/groovydoc',
        reportFiles          : 'index.html',

and fails to render properly. Looking at the html files I see that index.html uses javascript and index-all.html does not. Publishing using index-all.html renders fine but is less pretty.

How can I resolve this:

• How can I selectively allow javascript to run?
• How can I get gradle to generate more HTML in the index file and no javascript?

I figure, one of those two levers will resolve the problem. I'd prefer the later as I don't really want javascript executing as it presents a risk whereas a groovyscript generation process that takes longer or produces a larger index.html file seems fine to me.
