In a dropdown box, How can I verify that the selected value is selected inside the dropdown

    <option value="3">Ms</option>
    <option value="4">Dr</option>
    <option value="5">Prof</option>
</select>


expect(await helper.getElementText("#myselect").to.equal("Mr") 

does not work as even having the value selected the dropdown x path does not change.
