Relative React Library Module Not Found and Not Rendering CSS

I am trying to create common component library in a mono repo with some other React applications. I am using Webpack for these applications but am running into some issues doing a relative reference to the component library. I've been able to get around this by doing npm link ../common but this does not add the value to package.json however if I save it my Webpack build fails because it cannot find the module.

Additionally when I get it to work the CSS does not come along with the component even though it is included in the component as an import statement. Am I missing something?
