Invalid hook call issue while calling a webpack

I got following error while running the react app with webpack Invalid hook call. Hooks can only be called inside of the body of a function component. This could happen for one of the following reasons:

1.You might have mismatching versions of React and the renderer (such as React DOM) 2.You might be breaking the Rules of Hooks 3.You might have more than one copy of React in the same app See for tips about how to debug and fix this problem.

I have resolved the issue by adding peerDependencies in package.json

"peerDependencies": {
    "react": ">=16.8.0",
    "react-dom": ">=16.8.0"
},

Also need to add the following to Webpack's config

externals: {
  react: "commonjs react",
  "react-dom": "commonjs react-dom",
},

Hope this should resolve your issue, it works well for me.
