When one jsp composes part of the screen via ajax, how do I stop the interval?

My screen is a dynamically loaded screen. When frame.jsp is created, main.jsp is called through ajax and the screen is created through ajax in main.jsp

My problem is monitoring.

Monitoring should receive data in real time. I get this by using setInterval. The problem is that when monitoring.jsp is called multiple times, setInterval is also called multiple times, causing an error.

If main.jsp calls monitoring.jsp, I want to solve this only in monitoring.jsp without touching main.jsp. Is there a way to find the interval called earlier in monitoring.jsp and stop it?
