react-router-dom utilizes an example for Routes:

  <Route path="/" element={<Dashboard />}>
    <Route
      path="messages"
      element={<DashboardMessages />}
    />
    <Route path="tasks" element={<DashboardTasks />} />
  </Route>
  <Route path="about" element={<AboutPage />} />
</Routes>

To my understanding, this will render all elements whose paths are contained in the actual URL path. However, doesn't React also provide conditional rendering? So then one could use Routes for more complex conditional routing and the if React conditional routing is for simpler situations. Is this the right way to think about this?
