Detect if user is browsing website on mobile and send alert box

I am building a website and know very little about HTML and JavaScript, and my website is designed for computers so I want to detect if the user is browsing on a phone or tablet. If that is true, I want to send an alert box to the user that they should be browsing on a PC. How could I do this?
