How to filter user documents with respect to distance between them in mongodb

I have some user documents in mongodb like this

{
 user:"xyz",
 homeLocation:{
 name:"NewYork,USA",
 longitude:40.6976701,
 latitude:-74.2598751
 }
}

I want to filter users on the basis of distance between them, like I only want to retrieve those users who are maximum 50 km away from me, here's what I'm trying to do

const user = await User.find({homeLocation: {
          $near: {
            $geometry: {
              type: "Point",
              coordinates: [homeLocation.longitude, homeLocation.latitude],
            },
            $maxDistance: 50000,
          },
        },})

This homeLocation is of the current logged in user and I'm getting current user's coordinates and trying to calculate the distance of the other users from these coordinates in mongodb.
