What is the best way to setTimeout to get and post request with puppeteer in chrome extension

I create a chrome extension and using react and TS. I want to create a function that will do a get request for the first time. and after that I want to do GET request with function that I create with Puppeteer.

The first the user Install the extension I am using the function here:

chrome.runtime.onInstalled.addListener(function (details) {
  if (details.reason == "install") {
    console.log("on installed!");
  }
});

But, I want to know how I am doing a GET request on the background for each X hours? Do I need to use SetInterval? Where is the right place to put it? Thank you!
