That's essentially what I want to do. The problem is this doesn't update state. Any idea what I'm missing?

I ended up doing this:
setLayerTreeItem(state, { payload }: SetLayerTreeItem) {
const newState = state.slice();
newState[payload.level] = payload.element;
return newState;
},
