Filter multiple column in KendoGrid (Checkbox & Normal Text)

The below code is useful to filter txtSearch value but I have a checkbox and based on the check/uncheck event I want this function to be executed and filter that checkbox value as well.

I tried with a different operator value like equalTo, Contains and value 1 or checked, etc. but none helped.

This is an older version and doesn't get much documentation to look into, hope this help.

$txtSearch = $("#txtSearch").val();
    var ds = $("#List").data("kendoGrid").dataSource;
    ds.filter([
        {
            "logic": "or",
            "multi": true,
            "filters":
            [
                {
                    "field": "CompanyName",
                    "operator": "contains",
                    "value": $txtSearch
                },
                {
                    "field": "Assign",
                    "operator": "contains",
                    "value": "checked"

                }
            ]
        }
    ]);
