¿Por qué indexOf() y findIndex() funcionan de manera diferente con Number.isNaN?

Estaba tratando de encontrar NaN en una matriz. Y he encontrado esta manera de hacerlo.

 console.log([1, NaN, 3].findIndex(Number.isNaN)); //1

Y luego traté de hacer lo mismo con indexOf . ¿Por qué no funciona?

 console.log([1, NaN, 3].indexOf(Number.isNaN)); //-1

Si observa la documentación de indexOf , verá que no se necesita una función para comparar. Hace una igualdad estricta, por lo que busca Number.isNaN en la matriz.
