three.js lighting really wierd

I am trying to figure out why the shadows are going in weird positions where they aren't supposed to be.

Code:

var config = {
    shadowSize: 1
};

var directionalLight = new THREE.DirectionalLight( 0x8888ff );
directionalLight.position.set( 3, 12, 17 );
directionalLight.castShadow = true;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.near = 0.1;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.far = 500;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.right = 17;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.left = -17;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.top  = 17;
directionalLight.shadow.camera.bottom = -17;
directionalLight.shadow.mapSize.width = 1024 * config.shadowSize;
directionalLight.shadow.mapSize.height = 1024 * config.shadowSize;
directionalLight.shadow.radius = 10;
directionalLight.shadow.bias = -0.0001;

directionalGroup = new THREE.Group();
directionalGroup.add(directionalLight);

scene.add(new THREE.AmbientLight(0x444444));
scene.add(directionalGroup);
