Atomicity with ajax requests

I'm looking to call 6 ajax requests due to chrome's resource ability. I have the following code:

//requestList is a list of URLs to be requested
var requestList = getList();
const threadLimit = 6;
callHandler() {
    var count = 0;
    while (count < threadLimit) {
        handler();
        count++;
    }
}

handler(requestList) {
    var item = requestList.shift();
    getPost(item);
}

getPost(item) {
    $.ajax({ url: item}, method:GET, success: function(data) {
     //do something with data
     handler();
    }
}

In this function, I want to know if requestList will achieve atomicity. If it doesn't what can I do to achieve it?
