jsconfig.json no puede funcionar con "requerir" Node.js?

Estoy estudiando el archivo jsconfig.json, la documentación no menciona explícitamente si funciona con "importar" y "requerir", o simplemente "importar".

Este es el jsconfig.json que creé (para el proyecto Express):

 { "compilerOptions": { "baseUrl": "./", "module": "CommonJS", "target": "es2020", "paths": { "@/controllers/*": ["controllers/*"], } }, "exclude": ["node_modules", "**/node_modules/*"] }

no puedo hacer asi:

 const userController = require('@/controllers/user-controller'); // Error: Cannot find module '@/controllers/user-controller'

¿Por qué no puedo usar "requerir"? Lo probé en React y funcionó con "importar".
