Return value of callback function in a function

I know this could be or is a duplicate, but I sat on this issue for above 4 hours now and can't seem to find a solution.

var mysql = require('mysql');

var con = mysql.createConnection({
  host: "ip",
  port: port,
  user: "user",
  password: "pass",
  database:"db"
});

checkDatabase(serverID){
con.query(`SELECT * FROM servers WHERE serverid LIKE ${serverID}`, function(err, res){
    if (err) return callback(err); // Want to return false, if serverID is not found in database
    if(res.length>1)return true; // Want to return true, if results are true
});
var valid = checkDatabase("1234") // calling function
console.log(valid) //want to have bool true or false
