How to use cookie auth for Open Api Calls after initial basic auth

I currently have a node.js code making some API calls and I have my interface defined. In the constructor of my interface, I am using basic auth for authorization but I want to switch to using cookies for authorization after the initial authorization. So something like it will check for specific cookies in the browser, if they are available it would use cookie auth else it would use basic auth. Can anyone help with this please.

    this.server = `${process.env.RESTRICTED_SERVER}`;
    this.ApiVer = '/rest/v3';
    this.api = new OpenAPIClientAxios({
      definition: 'rant_openapi_spec.json',
      axiosConfigDefaults: {
        baseURL: process.env.RESTRICTED_SERVER + '/rest/v3',
        auth: {
          username: process.env.ADMIN_USERNAME,
          password: process.env.ADMIN_PASSWORD
        },
        headers: {
          'content-type': 'application/json',
        }
      },
    });
    this.api.init();
