Inovua React Data Grid- how to select a row (set active) on row expansion

I'm using Inovua React Data Grid enterprise edition to build a grid that allows for expansible rows (row details).

My grid is not very large, and it can get confusing as to which row was last expanded. I would like to improve readability by programmatically selecting the row that was most recently expanded, because the border surrounding the currently active row is nice.

I messed around with a number of things, specifically activeIndex and onRowExpand. I tried to setActiveIndex to the id argument of onRowExpand, but that did not work. I could not manually change which row was active- the row that I expanded never got the active border outline.

Let me know if you this explanation is not clear enough! Thanks.
