Can't click for 1 second after swiping because of CSS touch-action

To implement swiping gestures, we need touch-action to prevent the browser from handling the action. However, after performing a gesture, I can't click anything for about 1 second.

There's a Chromium bug filed: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1141207#c10

Repro link (need to swipe quickly, there's videos in the bug report): https://s3.amazonaws.com/apostolos.tsakpinis/shared/issues/chromium/swipe-bug.html

Since the Chromium team might take a long time to fix it, what are some potential workarounds? I tried:

  • removing the touch-action briefly after swiping
  • briefly hiding the swiped element
  • emitting click events, pointer events, etc
