Actualmente estoy aprendiendo sobre sockets de dominio IPC y Unix. Me preguntaba qué sucede con los mensajes que se envían a través de un socket Unix mientras el extremo receptor no lee desde el socket. ¿Se envían sin importar si alguien está leyendo o se quedan en algún tipo de cola esperando a un lector?

Basado en mi investigación (Linux), en el caso del socket Unix de datagramas (orientado a mensajes):

  • si el extremo receptor no ha realizado bind() en el socket, el remitente no podrá ejecutar sendto() ;
  • si el extremo receptor ha hecho bind() en el socket y no sigue haciendo recvfrom() , el remitente pondrá en cola un lote de mensajes hasta cierto límite y se detendrá;
  • si el extremo receptor continúa haciendo recvfrom() , el remitente continuará.

Consulte también: sysctl net.unix.max_dgram_qlen (para conocer el tamaño de la cola).
