Uso de la función jQuery each() para recorrer elementos de nombre de clase

Estoy tratando de usar jQuery para recorrer una lista de elementos que tienen el mismo nombre de clase y extraer sus valores.

Tengo esto..

 function calculate() { // Fix jQuery conflicts jQuery.noConflict(); jQuery(document).ready(function(){ // Get all items with the calculate className var items = jQuery('.calculate'); }); }

Estaba leyendo sobre la función each(), aunque me confundí sobre cómo usarla correctamente en este caso.

y si quisiera obtener su índice en la colección:

 jQuery('.calculate').each(function(index, currentElement) { ... });

Referencia: .each() y .val() .
