Mod_rewrite: discard the first string in URL upon redirect to a new URL while preserving all other strings

I have a url structure like the following for all domains:

https://www.example.com/string1/string2/string3/string4

i want to redirect all/any domains to a new single domain url with the following format:

https://www.newexample.com/string2/string3/string4

the url remains in tact other than the first /string1/ being discarded when the redirect happens
