e.preventDefault(); y luego continuar enviando y publicando el formulario

OK, Firefox no permite registrar mi evento onclick... así que tengo que usar e.preventDefault(); mi problema es que estoy enviando (publicar) vars al formulario y, como resultado, mi página no puede continuar recargando...

¿Cómo puedo evitar esto?

 $(document).ready(function(){ $( "#submit" ).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $.post() .done(function( data ) { //here I need to disable e.preventDefault(); and carry on & post submission as normal.... }); }); })
