How do I post a image file into a web api for it to be stored in the database?

I'm building an app in angular with a colleague, I'm doing frontend and he's in the backend with ASP.NET with entity framework. My question is, what's the process to follow?

As in, I have already enabled the component to upload files (ngx-dropzone), I want to know if I need to convert the File type into Base64 before consuming the api so it can be stored in the database, or maybe I just send the File as a string and the .Net Core will convert that into Base64?

I've researched but in this case, since is the first time I face this problem, I don't know what to look for or what to research. I lack the concept.
