¿Cómo vinculo y luego llamo funciones (como una hoja de estilo, pero para scripts) en HTML?

El código para index.html:

 <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <!-- Head --> <head> <script type='text/javascript' href='scriptsheet.js'></script> <link rel='stylesheet' href='stylesheet.css'> </head> <!-- Body --> <body> <h1 id='maintitle'>Website</h1> <button id='mainbutton' name='bigbutton' onclick='clicked()'>Click Me!</button> <label name='appearingtext'></label> </body> </html>

y mi código para scriptsheet.js

 function clicked() { console.log("Loaded clicked()"); document.getElementByName('appearingtext').innerHTML = 'Boo!'; }

En el archivo js, registro "Loaded clicked ()", para ver si se está llamando a mi función, pero me quedo con

 ReferenceError: Can't find variable: clicked onclick - index.html:12

Línea 12: <button id='mainbutton' name='bigbutton' onclick='clicked()'>Click Me!</button>

Editar: scriptsheet.js está en el mismo directorio que index.html
