How do I link and then call functions (Like a stylesheet, but for scripts) in HTML

The code for index.html:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
      <!-- Head -->
  <head>
    <script type='text/javascript' href='scriptsheet.js'></script>
    <link rel='stylesheet' href='stylesheet.css'>
  </head>
      <!-- Body -->
  <body>
    <h1 id='maintitle'>Website</h1>
    <button id='mainbutton' name='bigbutton' onclick='clicked()'>Click Me!</button>
    <label name='appearingtext'></label>
  </body>
</html>

and my code for scriptsheet.js

function clicked() {
  console.log("Loaded clicked()");
  document.getElementByName('appearingtext').innerHTML = 'Boo!';
}

In the js file, I log "Loaded clicked()", so to see if my function is being called, but I am left with

ReferenceError: Can't find variable: clicked
onclick - index.html:12

Line 12: <button id='mainbutton' name='bigbutton' onclick='clicked()'>Click Me!</button>

Edit: scriptsheet.js is in the same directory as index.html
