Is there a way to determine if a date field has been changed by one month

Please bare with me as I am pretty new at this. I have an existing date field (closing date) and I would like know when a user has advanced the date by 1 month; for example June to July, August to September. Once determined the date has been changed by 1 month, display a message. Thank you in advance for your help.

if(ev.TableAndFieldName == "ClosingDate") {

var startDate = new Date(los.GetField("Status.ClosingDate"));
var endDate = new Date(startDate.getMonth() +1);

if (endDate > startDate) {

los.Application.ShowMessageBox("     ")
}
};
