Concatenar una variable declarada pero no definida

Por curiosidad hice esta simple concatenación:

 let a; a+="hello" console.log(a)

Devuelve "undefinedhello"

Entiendo que a era básicamente la cadena "indefinida", ¿o se convierte en una cadena al concatenar? ¿Hay algo que aprender aquí?

ya que está creando una variable aquí, el valor predeterminado se vuelve indefinido . Necesitas asignar un valor allí.
