Tokbox / Vonage : Get audio input volume of publisher on subscriber client

I'm currently building an app using Tokbox/Vonage for audio/video. The feature I'm working on involves a single client broadcasting their audio to a bunch of other clients. A part of that feature is a visual indicator situated around a silhouette of the of the publishing user that shows all that user's audio changes. I've used the 'audioLevelUpdated' event listener to listen for any publisher audio changes. The value that is returned from the event listener is then set to a user field that is used for a the aforementioned visual UI component.

On the publisher's client, the audio changes are being heard and the visual indicator is being updated appropriately. However, on all other clients (i.e all subscribers) the visual indicator for the publishing user never changes, in fact it seems from the subscribers POV, the publishing user's 'audio input' field is never being set in the first place. Furthermore, it seems like there is simply no way to return the publisher of the session or stream as a subscriber.

I've kinda hit a brick wall on how to proceed given the above. Would love it if anyone more familiar with vonage/tokbox could lend me hand, or even tell me if what i'm trying to do is even possible. I would be super grateful. Thanks
