Is there a way to display a PDF in color and then hide the color version and print the black an white version?

I want to make a nice, pretty, color-based document for the screen, but when someone goes to print it they get a more printer friendly version. Like straight up black and white. No gradients. No pictures.

I was thinking about how this could be accomplished and I think I might be, instead of restricting the colors, be able to "hide" the screen version and just print the B/W version when someone goes to print it. Has anyone tried to do that or figured out how to make a printer friendly way to print a color PDF?

Any help appreciated! TIA!
