Custom Webpack Plugin for JS, Twig, and Drupal

I’m looking to create a Webpack plugin to help my team improve our compilation process. Or, at least what I think is the correct term, “webpack plugin”.

Im fairly familiar with Webpack in terms of plugging existing things together (Babel, SCSS, React, Vue), etc), not much so in making my own though.

What I would like to do at a high-level:

  1. Scan in a directory for JS-files matching a glob pattern. That JS can import other stuff, so like CSS.
  2. Output the output from each of those into a certain “dist” directory, all after going through Babel and stuff.
  3. Get the output of where each of those files was outputted at, and do something with the list of those files/directories to do whatever. Specifically,I’d like to write that output to a file, but whatever works.

I feel like I just need pointed in the right direction to start, I feel like I’m close to understanding.

Specifically relating to Drupal, I just want to create dynamic library definitions based on JavaScript and Twig found in my “component” directories. Haven’t come across an existing solution yet.
