button click to display consecutive dates stops working on same two dates (forward and back)

I have been front-end developing in js for about 3 1/2 years now and can usually find the answer to my problem fairly quickly, most of the time through StackOverflow. Not so this time. I have a date (not typed as date though) bar div that responds to fwd and back button clicks to change the date (day, month, day number) by one day. The buttons/dates work fine until I get to Sunday, October 9th, or Sunday, May 1. At that point, the button click does not even enter the function so I might see why the same dates cause a problem which seems odd. The click still enters the listener, though, as there is a counter there that works but will not enter the function as it has for the dates after May 1 and before October 9. Does this problem seem familiar to anyone... barring that, is there a plugin that works with the date object to display it as it is changed by the user?
