NodeJS doesn't return variable value
request(options,(err,res,body) =>{
     try{
         var json = JSON.parse(body);
         //console.log(json.businesses[0]);

         var businesses = [];
         for (const business of json.businesses) {
           businesses.push(business);
           //console.log(business.name);
         }
         //console.log(businesses);
         return businesses;
         //return (businesses[getRandomInt(businesses.length)]);
         //console.log(businesses.length)
     }catch(err){
         console.log('yelp parsing error');
     }
 });
}

app.listen(PORT, () => console.log("server running on PORT ${PORT"));

app.get('/results', function(req, res){
   var result = search();
   console.log(JSON.stringify(result));
   res.json(JSON.stringify(result));
})

In the request block everything runs fine and the businesses array is full, but when returned to result in the app.get block console.log(JSON.stringify(result)) yields undefined. Same if I remove JSON.stringify. Whats happening here?
