JS is not running on Chrome (use Code Runner on VScode)

I spent a week figuring out how to run JS file on VScode using Code Runner. It works 25% of the time (VS code puts outputs in console). I am also trying to run HTML file linked to JS on Chrome from VScode using Code Runner. It worked so far only once. Since both issues give me the same error message from Code Runner I assume they are caused by the same issue. Any direction is appreciated. I also put Live Server extension on VScode this morning, but when I ran, it displayed "Open a folder or workspace...(File -> Open Folder)" and following the direction did not change the outcome and error message.

What I tried: I linked my HTML file to my JS file: I selected Language Mode for Code Runner at the right bottom of VScode. I set up the path to json file. Picture of setting path on settings.json file

Code Runner error message: Code language not supported or defined. Source: Code Runner (Extension)

This could be the cause? Left side of Language Mode (appear bottom of VScode) there is a circle with arrow indicating a message (Loading Intellisense status 4.6.2 - TypeScript Version). This loading seems to be ongoing and never complete or stop.
