Anyway to have Next dev environment mimic Firebase?

(I'm very new to coding!)

Currently I have my Next web app hosted on Firebase. This was achieved by running next export to create a static version of my app. It works pretty good but there are some issues that I wasn't able to catch when running npm run dev. I'm aware of Firebase's firebase emulators:start. The thing is that this emulates my out (next export) folder. Therefore I would have to export every change I make to be able to see it on the emulator. It's very possible that I might be missing something since I'm new. I wanted to know if there is away to have either npm run dev mimic the Firebase prod env. or use the emulator to achieve the same.
