¿Existe una forma sencilla de agregar una cadena variable a un atributo de elemento sin "setAttribute"?

Estoy tratando de tomar datos de otra parte del elemento y agregarlos a otra (forzar la carga de imágenes de carga diferida) y todo lo que encuentro me apunta hacia setAttribute, sin embargo, esto rompe los datos ya que agrega automáticamente un igual y citas al datos agregados que lo rompen.

Asi que:

 images[i].setAttribute('data-anim-src',' srcset= "'+images[i].getAttribute('data-srcset')+'"');

Me obtiene data-anim-src=" srcset="..."" en lugar de lo que quiero, que es data-anim-src srcset="..."

¿Hay alguna forma de eliminar el ="" que se agrega automáticamente con setAttribute? o hay una alternativa igualmente simple?

setAttribute funciona así:

 setAttribute(attribute, value);

así no:

 setAttribute(attribute1, attribute2, attribute3);

Entonces, para resolverlo, simplemente configúrelos por separado:

 images[i].setAttribute('data-anim-src', 'true'); images[i].setAttribute('srcset', images[i].getAttribute('data-srcset'));
