¿Cómo llenar una matriz condicionalmente?

Tengo el siguiente código JS:

 let a = false let b = true let c = [...(a ? {d: 1} : {})]

Estoy tratando de establecer c en [{d: 1}] si a es verdadero, y establecerlo en [] si a es falso. Está arrojando el object is not iterable (cannot read property Symbol(Symbol.iterator))

¿Por qué arroja este error y cómo puedo solucionarlo?

Necesita envolver las expresiones en matrices.

 const a = false, b = true, c = [...(a ? [{ d: 1 }] : [])], d = [...(b ? [{ d: 1 }] : [])]; console.log(c); console.log(d);
