Filter data from database in Leaflet

My problem is a bit tricky : I'm trying to create a filter (ideally a checkbox list, or even Leaflet.control.layer) that works with attributes instead of layers in Leaflet.

Bascially, I have six layers, and all of them have a common attribute (a type). They are split in six layers because I need to do other things with each seaparately. However, I'd like to have a control that allows me to mask/show features from all of these layers at the same time when their respective checkbox is checked.

Also, it's worth specifying that my data is fetched from a postgresql database, and that I already have a list of all the values in the common attribute.

Is there an easy way to do this? A plugin ? I've been looking for a while but can't find anything relatively easy... Thanks!
