Flash of barebones HTML before CSS loads - possibly to do with snowpack

I'm using snowpack and SASS for my website. It uses @snowpack/plugin-sass to load the sass during developement, and in deployment it builds the CSS into one file and then does something strange... snowpack loads the CSS via a styles.css.proxy.js file.

I think here in lies the issue.

When the site loads, I get a split second flash of bare bones HTML before, I'm guessing, that styles.css.proxy.js file loads the CSS.

I get the same problem while running the dev server, but I'm assuming this is because it takes a second to compile the sass.

Any ideas how this can be rectified?
